November 2025 Election Updates

Updated: Nov 20

The results are in — and for the Democratic Party, it was a night of momentum and meaningful victories. Across the country, voters sent a clear signal about their priorities: affordability, leadership, stability, and tangible results. Here’s how we’re seeing it play out — and what it means for our precinct in Austin.

Zohran Mamdani lifts his arm in victory after his win on election night

Highlighted Victories

  • In Virginia, Abigail Spanberger was elected governor, making history as the state’s first female governor, and helping flip that governorship from Republican to Democrat.

  • In New Jersey, former Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill won the governor’s race, helping Democrats retain control of top state offices.

  • In New York City, Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor with a progressive platform focused on housing, affordability, and public transit — becoming the first Muslim and youngest mayor of the city in more than a century.

  • More broadly, Democrats made significant local and ballot-measure gains, including in states like California (with a major redistricting measure that could yield more Democratic U.S. House seats and help undue the Texas redistricting damage), and in county and municipal races across the country.

Why These Wins Matter for Big Stacy Democrats

  1. Affordability = a winning message. Many of these races turned on economic issues — housing, cost of living, taxes. Voters are looking for leadership that tackles everyday challenges.

  2. Local momentum supports local work. When Democrats succeed at the state and city levels, it creates openings for precincts like ours to build stronger volunteer networks, connect with newly engaged voters, and scale our organizing for races ahead.

  3. A reminder: turnout matters — even in off-year elections. This wasn’t just about the big named offices. The enthusiasm, especially among younger voters and in metro areas, signals an energized base we can tap into.

  4. This is our moment in Texas too. While our state has its own dynamics, seeing the Democratic message resonate in these varied contexts gives us proof that bold, locally-rooted, values-driven campaigns win. We can adapt these lessons for our precinct, and the neighborhoods around Big Stacy Park.

What Comes Next for Big Stacy Democrats

  • We’ll debrief what our local results looked like.

  • We’ll build a plan for the next election cycle: voter registration, digital outreach, door-knocking, and community events.

  • We’ll connect with new voters: Their engagement clearly matters.

  • We’ll talk to our neighbors to see if their biggest issues are the same ones we saw this fall: housing, childcare, transportation, cost of living, and inclusive leadership.

Get Involved

Want to help keep the momentum going in our neighborhood? We’ve got:

Together, we’ll ensure the wins we saw in November 2025 translate into stronger communities here in our precinct, in our city, in our future.
